Our McLean community group, or a core of us anyway, has been meeting for 13 years! We have done Bible studies, book studies, and video series over the years, but mostly now we are finding sermon questions are a great way to reinforce the lessons of the scripture passage we’re covering and prompt some good discussion. We schedule ad hoc social/fellowship events around our twice-monthly, Sunday night meetings. We do dessert or light snacks most of the time, but sometimes do dinner. We have marrieds and folks who attend without spouses and are mostly in the empty-nester stage of life, but would love to have some other ages and stages in our group. Recently we got involved with the Heart of Christ Committee’s ministry to Afghan refugees and have made friends with an Afghan couple and single in the U.S. without his family. We enjoy having additional socials so that we can include these new Afghan friends.
